Last Friday evening, my alma
mater SCHS Indians fell 24-20 to the Chestatee War Eagles at The Reservation,
marking the team’s only loss thus far. It
is hard to make it through a season undefeated, as both the Dawgs and Falcons
came perilously close to discovering over the weekend, as well.
The Indians (4-1, 1-1) will have a week to recover as their
next game, another 8AAAA contest, is slated for 12 October at Legion Field in
Monroe. The Monroe Area Purple
Hurricanes (5-0, 2-0), will also be offing off of a bye, having defeated the
Lanier Longhorns by the score of 33-20 last Friday and having an open date this
week.
Insofar as the pools are concerned, the Indians dropped
completely out of both the Associated
Press (from number five) and AJC
Prep Zone (also from number five) polls.
Seems kind of harsh for a four-point loss to a one-loss team, but it is
what it is. Monroe Area, on the other
hand, moved up one spot to number nine in the AP poll and up three spots to
number seven in the AJC poll.
